As the nation’s capital, Brasília is full of people from all over Brazil, and the food scene offers a whirlwind tour of the country just by eating. Read on for a guide to the best places to eat in Brasília.

Nazo Japanese Food
São Paulo is home to the largest Japanese population outside of Japan, and the city is filled with top quality sushi restaurants. This spot in Brasília holds its own with the best of them. With an airy wooden interior and a lovely outdoor patio as well, this is your place to enjoy excellent sushi in a chic environment.

Mangai
This beautiful restaurant on the edge of Lago Paranoá is a great place to experience the cuisine of the country’s northeast, beloved by Brazilians around the country. You can order off the menu or enjoy their extensive lunch buffet, where you can try classic dishes like moqueca and bobó de camarão (two traditional seafood stews from Bahia), carne de sol (sun-dried beef typical of the semi-arid sertão of the inland regions), and baião de dois (rice, beans, quijo coalho cheese, and carne de sol).

Boteco Caju Limão
This lively outdoor bar is evocative of the classic botecos of Rio de Janeiro, a place where friends come together to hang out over great food and drink. I recommend some classic petiscos (bar snacks) like pasteis (Brazilian fried empanadas with meat, cheese, or shrimp filling), frango à passarinho (Brazilian fried chicken), or sandwiches with linguiça (sausage) or rosbife (roast beef). Best paired with a chopp (draft beer) or the namesake suco de caju com limão, a fresh juice made from the fruit that produces the cashew nut and lime.
Casa de Chá
This cafe and visitor center in the middle of the Praça dos Três Poderes is a lovely place for a coffee and an exceptional pão de queijo, a Brazilian cheese bread originally from Minas Gerais and now adopted as a national snack.
